Ilsik Byun is a music professor at Cornel School of Contemporary Music teaching various classes including Jazz Harmony, Orchestration, Music Production, and Film Scoring courses. As of 2008 he serves as an Associate Dean of the School.
Ilsik Byun received his B.M. in film scoring (Summa Cum Laude) from Berklee College of Music and M.A. in Composition from New York University. He studied classical orchestration, composition and tonal/jazz harmony with noted composers such as John Bavicchi, Richard Davis, and Dinu Ghezzo. Upon graduation, Ilsik relocated to Los Angeles to pursue film and television scoring full time. Since then, he has participated many post-production projects including indie films, documentaries, national television commercials and radio commercials as a composer and arranger. Composing the music for the Wounded Heroes documentary is Ilsik's third time working with director/producer Michael Gier. Their previous projects were for a film titled Ms. Mattie's Adventures: A New Beginning, and the award-winning documentary "Healing The Heroes of 9/11." |
